Redocly Inc. and its group companies (“Redocly”, “we” or “us”) respect your privacy. This privacy notice (“Notice”) explains who we are, how we collect, use, and share personal information about you, and how you can exercise your privacy rights. Redocly collects and processes personal information about you from various sources to provide our Services and to manage our Website. “You” may be a visitor to one of our websites, a user of one or more of our Services (“Redocly User”), or a prospect or customer of a Redocly User (“Documentation Viewer”).

We are a U.S.-based technology company that builds tools to accelerate API adoption and improve the developer experience. Our products include API documentation (Redoc), developer portals and content platforms (Realm, Reef, Revel), API testing and monitoring (Respect), and related services.

We provide a unified platform that helps organizations design, publish, govern, and monitor APIs and developer content, while supporting docs-as-code workflows and modern collaboration.

2. PRIVACY FOR THE WEBSITE

This section describes how we collect and use personal information in the usual course of business, including through our websites (such as https://redocly.com and its subdomains, or any site where this Notice is posted) (the “Website”), as well as in connection with our events, sales, and marketing activities.

  • Information you provide voluntarily: when you submit a form, sign up for an event, or contact us directly (name, email, phone number, job title, company, etc.).

2.2 Social Media Widgets

Our Website includes plugins from social media platforms such as Meta (Facebook), X (formerly Twitter, now X Corp., headquartered in Bastrop, Texas), and LinkedIn. These plugins may collect information as described in their respective privacy policies.

3. PRIVACY FOR THE SERVICES

This section explains how we collect and use personal information through our products and services (the “Services”), which include API documentation, developer portals, testing and monitoring tools, and related functionality. It also covers how we process information about users of the Services (“Redocly Users”) and individuals who view Redocly-powered documentation (“Documentation Viewers”).

3.1 What information do we collect and why?

  • From Redocly Users: business contact details, account credentials, payment details, communications, and support requests.
  • Automatically collected: IP address, device type, operating system, browser type and version, screen resolution, usage information (such as access times, pages viewed, clicks, and interactions), log files, error reports, and analytics data.
  • From Documentation Viewers (on behalf of Redocly Users): contact details, device data, transactional information, and other fields configured by Redocly Users. In this context, Redocly acts as a processor.

3.2 How do we use your information?

We use this information to provide, manage, and secure the Services, communicate with Users, process billing, improve functionality, prevent fraud, and comply with legal obligations.

3.3 Cookies and Similar Technologies

We use:

  • Google Analytics 4 (GA4) for aggregated analytics.
  • Fathom Analytics, which collects no cookies or personal data.
  • Redocly Analytics, a first-party solution without cookies.

4. GENERAL INFORMATION

4.1 How do we share your information?

We share personal information with:

  • Service providers (e.g., cloud hosting, payments, communications).
  • Redocly affiliates worldwide.
  • Authorities, if legally required.
  • Business transfers, in case of mergers or acquisitions.
  • Others with your consent.

4.2 International Data Transfers

Your data may be transferred to the U.S. or other countries where we operate. We rely on safeguards including the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) and may also participate in the EU–U.S. Data Privacy Framework (DPF), the UK Extension to the DPF, and the Swiss–U.S. DPF once certification is completed.

We process personal data where:

  • It is necessary to perform a contract with you.
  • It is in our legitimate interests (e.g., improving Services, marketing, security).
  • We have your consent.
  • We are legally required to do so.

Depending on your location and applicable laws, you may have rights to: access, correct, or delete your personal information; restrict or object to processing; request portability; withdraw consent; and lodge complaints with your local authority.

We maintain strong safeguards and are certified for:

  • SOC 2
  • ISO 27001 (information security)
  • ISO 27017 (cloud security)
  • ISO 27018 (protection of personal data in the cloud)

We retain data only as long as necessary for business or legal purposes, after which it is securely deleted or anonymized.

4.7 Third-Party Websites and Apps

This Notice does not apply to third-party websites or services. Please review their privacy policies separately.

4.8 Children's information

You must be of the age of majority to register for or use our Services. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or higher thresholds as required by local law).
